Since this allows AirDroid to read all alerts ported by the system or any installed app, it might include personal data like contact names along with sent and received messages. On the other hand, you should carefully read the information displayed before agreeing to enable the notification mirror service. This is a great way to keep track of everything going on your smartphone when you're too busy working on the PC to regularly check it otherwise.

On the Android device, the app offers to enable a notifications system that permits it to show desktop alerts every time an app is being updated, you receive a message, and anything else. Needless to say, this account is needed in the web app as well, in case you prefer it to the Windows version.Ĭarefully consider the notifications system

It doesn't go overboard in terms of looks, and the options are neatly organized in the main app window.īefore getting to this step, however, it is necessary to sign up with an AirDroid account by specifying a password and email address (does not require confirmation via email).Įvidently, like most tools dedicated to remote devices, it kindly asks you to visit the Google Play Store and set up AirDroid on the smartphone / tablet too, after which you can log in with the account previously created on the desktop client. Luckily, AirDroid's installer does not integrate tricky third-party components that you might accidentally allow on your PC.Īs far as the interface goes, AirDroid keeps it simple and functional. The setup procedure is a fast and simple task that requires minimal supervision. Besides, there's also a web app available. Granted, AirDroid cannot wirelessly recharge the smartphone or tablet, but it does a good job at the previously mentioned tasks, which is definitely more convenient than a cable. This is a straightforward and approachable desktop client that enables you to establish a remote connection between your Android-powered smartphone / tablet and computer through a wireless network, so that you can view and send SMS texts, copy files from the PC to the device, get notified about updates for all installed apps, and so on. A simpler solution would be to control the device via a wireless network connection, and that's exactly what AirDroid proposes. Avoid the app and don't give the company your money. All of us get a cable when purchasing a new smartphone or tablet, and let's face it: we all complain at some point that it's too short or that we simply cannot find it around the house.

That I would consider fair if it wasn't for the fact that the software is constantly buggy and the huge security flaws that have been discovered that the company attempts to cover up. I was told by their "support" that they couldn't do that and kept just asking me to try various things to make it work, send them log files etc. I paid for a premium subscription and as I have over 200 days left on it, I asked for a refund, even just the outstanding amount. Repeated force-closing and attempting to uninstall with multiple reboots didn't help. After repeatedly getting frustrated with it, I decided to uninstall it at which point I discovered I couldn't. It is not possible to reset where the location is. My most recent experience is that it won't allow me to access the SD card on my phone, despite telling the app the location of the card in the filesystem and it showing my files there, the desktop app refuses to access it telling me I must tell the app where the card is.

Also recently, the bugs are becoming ridiculous. Over time though, it has become apparent it has had massive security flaws and the company has not been honest about them until outed online. This app used to be quite good for transferring files and mirroring notifications, etc.

Don't download the update after youv'e installed. Though it did the job the transfer speed allowed you to make a cuppa before the photo arrived on the Mac, so I installed Air Droid on the Mac and phone and Oh hooo! an image jumps straight over to the Mac and you can just drag it onto the desktop, like, in 2 secs! Fantastic. unless you use I phone with the Mac, so I went Bluetooth between the devices. Getting my head round the IMac was hard enough, but after about 6 months, I am liking it a lot BUT the relationship between an android phone and an IMac is strained to say the least. I'm not an Apple lover anyway and much prefer my Android phones, as I have the freedom to mount as another drive. I was amazed to see such poor reviews for this app! I recently went over to an Imac as fed up with MS Windows and updates and WIN7 going obsolete.
